Who can join CYDS?

Only youth aged 13 and older are allowed to join. At least one parent or guardian must reside in Calgary. This ensures local engagement and safety.

Is membership free?

Yes, membership is completely free. However, some events or workshops may involve personal expenses (e.g., transit, meals, materials). These will be clearly listed in the event details.

How long does membership last?

Membership is valid for one year and auto-renews annually unless you move out of Calgary or choose to cancel voluntarily.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes! We are planning to launch a scholarship program for university education in architecture, urban planning, or design. Stay tuned for updates!

Do I need design experience?

No experience required! CYDS is for beginners and advanced students alike. We teach everything from SketchUp to urban planning.

How often are meetings or workshops?

We host 1–2 events per month (workshops, site visits, design challenges). Attendance is flexible — come to what fits your schedule.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Friends are welcome to attend as guests. To vote or lead projects, they must become members.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes! Active members receive a signed certificate of participation and leadership for their college portfolio.

Is CYDS connected to UCalgary?

Yes! We partner with the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) for mentorship, critiques, and guest lectures.

How do I cancel my membership?

Simply email info@cyds.ca with your name and reason. We’ll remove you immediately — no questions asked.
