MIT Design Challenge Track
An advanced, MIT-inspired portfolio challenge for Calgary teens who want to practice rigorous design thinking, systems thinking, and prototype-based storytelling.
Why This Page Exists
The original MIT PDF was an unfinished internal offer. Instead of publishing a half-complete promise, CYDS now presents the idea as a transparent interest track while the curriculum is completed.
Challenge Brief
Students respond to a real urban problem with research, sketches, models, and a concise design argument.
Systems Thinking
The track emphasizes users, constraints, tradeoffs, evidence, iteration, and impact.
Portfolio Output
The intended outcome is a polished project case study, not a certificate or admissions shortcut.
Before Launch
Complete curriculum outline
Confirm mentor/reviewer availability
Publish dates, workload, and parent notes
Compare University Tracks
MIT is one preparation lens. CYDS also offers local and global architecture benchmarks through the UCalgary SAPL-inspired and UCL Bartlett-inspired tracks.
